Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Max Ehrmann

Midwest Mustache
So this is how Ross returned to me after his adventures in Ohio... According to the American Mustache Institute (did you even know there was such a thing?) this is technically called the Horseshoe, not to be confused with the Fu Manchu or the Handlebar. I am afraid... very afraid. What is next? Tractor pull? Demolition Derby?

Max's Birthday
Was well over a week ago. Here is actually a video I took before his birthday asking some questions. He was more interested in the camera and the computer I was sitting next to, but I thought it was cute.
And here is the video of us singing to him. I forgot the candles (bad, bad mommy)but the cake was super cute. Cars theme, of course, and it is actually a bunch of cupcakes, which made it even more fun for the kids.
And some photos...

Smile Grandma and Papa!! And yes, I have no pants... Ahh, the freedom, and it is my birthday after all, just be thankful I have the underwear on.

This is Zoey's gift to Max. It is "Lizzie" from the Magic School Bus (at least the most likely candidate we could find). And as for the potty in the background... didn't you get the memo? It is the latest in new living room decor...

Here he is with his cake. And the cake itself. Yum!! (I'm a sucker for a good cake with whipped frosting)

How's the cupcake? Great... HI-Five!

And setting up the fun race track!

Happy Birthday Buddy!!

Never Wrong!
The other day I picked up Zoey from school and she was very mad. I asked what was wrong and she said, "Sara and Lainey said I was wrong about something, and I'm NEVER WRONG, they were wrong." I said, "Well, Zoey, everyone is wrong sometimes." To which she firmly replied, "No, I am never wrong." Hmmm... a little stubborn are we? That's not from me, nope, not at all...
On another note... she was talking to Ross on the phone and had this conversation:
Z: Daddy, where are you?
R: In a hotel room.
Z: What do you have in the room?
R: Well, there's a TV, a bed and a bathroom.
Z: Is the bathroom stinky?
R: Ah, no. (with a little laugh. I am sure he was thinking, not yet, or no longer, but kept that to himself)
Z: Umm, Daddy, I think it is stinky... I can even smell it from here... Gross!
You will remember her super nose from this post, well, she still has it and also a great desire to discover and call all things "gross". What are you gonna do? Just another funny phase I guess, and one of the better ones to live through if you ask me.

A big bad FIRST GRADER and Aloha Max
Here is Zoey at the first and last day of school. Same skirt and hair, different doggie shirt and missing teeth. I think a whole lot more confidence, too!!
And here is Max on one of his last days, Aloha Day. He has surf hair in his hair. Cool Dude.

More House Pics
Hi all... Ross is driving right now and we just received some pics from the real estate agent, so I am posting a few...
Zoey has seen her room on the floor plan and picked it out. She saw the picture and said, "they put my windows up in my room!" She has the two on the left.

Here's the back

This is standing in the dining room, looking back into the kitchen and morning room:

I put two more in the side bar.

Z-O-E-Y!!!
Just had to quickly post this... I will get to Max's birthday pics soon. Here is Zoey doing some chin-ups!! I asked her how she learned to do it and she said, "I saw Zachary do it, so I tried and I could do it too!" That's right, girl... you can do anything!!
Here's a photo (she can do it with her hands the other way too, I was quite impressed), And Video too, just to get the full effect:

Zoey's Portfolio Day
The wonderful thing about being sort of close to grandparents (the thing we will really miss), is that they can be around for a day like this. All of the kindergartners at Zoey's school put on a little dance and then we had a chance to sit and look through these amazing books her teacher put together (she has the greatest kindergarten teacher EVER) about her progress throughout the year. So Ross and I and my parents got to be there. She was very excited about that.
Here is a picture of her during the dance:

She did awesome in the dances. She told me she would be nervous the night before because a million people would be watching, but luckily the crowd was just a tad smaller, and she didn't seem to be nervous. She smiled and had lots of fun. They did the bunny hop, the macarena, the YMCA, the hokie pokey, and some others.
Here is the Sailor Bear and the Mexican Hat Dance. I love how they put there fingers up during the Mexican Hat Dance. And check out her guitar skills during the first video!!

Max the Actor
The other day I was walking with Max to pick up Zoey from school, and there was a guy filming something for the school. Max stopped in front of the camera and just said, "Cheeeeeese!" I explained to him that it was a video camera, so he stands right in front and says:
The video guy didn't know what to say. It was pretty funny. It is actually from a Magic School Bus Episode that he has seen... Anyway, I thought it was funny that he totally wanted to be in front of the camera. Here he is saying it on video... It is a little hard to understand, but still so cute...
HI! How are ya!
Nice to see ya!
Thanks for coming to school,
and enjoy your day!!

A True Fashion Diva...
... even sleeps in her stylin' hat...

This is how I found her the other night sleeping. She actually has quite a unique style sense... often very Punky-Brewsterish, but always super cute. And does not care what people think. Gotta love that!

Dr. Seuss Meet Max
Max loves acting out books. When he was into the Five Little Monkeys, he would act out what each monkey was doing on the page. Lately, his favorites have included Dr. Seuss stories, like There's a Wocket in My Pocket, where he goes running around the house, searching for the "jertain in the curtain", or the "zillow on his pillow!" It is very cute. Here he is acting out The Cat in the Hat!

how observant those kids are...
...of everything we do, even the little things. It is just funny when you get a glimpse of how you are see through your kids eyes. Last night, Zoey wanted me to look up how to make a paper origami boat on the internet. We walked to the computer and there was a motorcycle picture on the screen.
Zoey: Oh, Daddy must have been on the computer. There is a motorcycle. Or was it you?
Me: What do you think?
Zoey: It was Daddy, he LOVES motorcycles. You always just look at the weather!
We made some paper boats, but I thought these were cuter:
She made tons of teeny tiny paper hats to put on our fingers to make finger puppets... And she is right, I do always check the weather.

Movie Night at the Beach
Friday nights we usually skip baths, make some popcorn, and watch a movie. This past Friday, we had a fun variation. We went to a movie on the beach!! It was very cool. Here are the kids before it started:

Here is Zoey dancing around with her air guitar. There was a guy with a real guitar playing music for the kids before the movie started. And Max hanging out on the chair.

And just the view. The screen looks pretty small in the light, but once it got dark it was very adequate. We had a lot of fun. They played CARS, so that was a big hit. And they had a fire that we could make smores from. It was surprisingly not crowded at all, another plus. This wasn't near any of our beaches. This was a little taste of life in the "OC"!

Ouch...
So this hurts a little...

And a little more...

Yikes! Talk about not so thrifty...

I got some funny looks taking these pictures by the way. OOHHHH, like I was private investigator or something... No, just some weird lady taking a picture of gas stations around the neighborhood. Are you feeling my pain as well??
