On How I Perfected My Reverse Driving Skills...

Our street had a sink hole. It started out as a little dip that collected rainwater and made for a fun puddle to ride bikes through. And then, they tried to fix it. It got WAY worse!

Here are the workers coming up with a plan (I'm guessing they are discussing the way to fix it properly in very scientific terms). And yes, still snow on the ground, mid March! Yuck!

You can see the original "patch"- small enough that maneauvering around it was not an issue.

And then they just went crazy and dug up a huge hole! There is now exactly enough room to get your car around the hole and barricades. Add in 8 guys and their pick-ups, a dump truck and a cement mixer, and a digger (yes, I still prefer the preschool names of the work trucks) and goodness, barely an inch of breathing room!
IMG_0045

I took these pictures on their lunch break. They decided to do this digging on the day that I had to leave the house about ten billion times. So each time, I had to look out the window first, and assess the situation... See where the dump truck was or the cement mixer truck, so I could plan my exit. They were very nice and usually stopped what they were doing and move out of the way as much as possible! Of course, that only meant that the guys would turn and watch me back out of my driveway and maneuver around this mess!
IMG_0047

It's not like I can't back my car up, really, I can. I just didn't like doing it 7 times in front of people watching me all while trying not to hit my mailbox or the fire hydrant, or fall into the giant hole! See the scoop from the digger? I think they left that there just for me! A little extra barricade so I didn't take a plunge.

Day 71- Tangled

Travelling with yarn packed by Zoey leads to a little bit of a tangled mess...

Our Family Date Night

The beginning of March is always highlighted for me with our annual family date night to the Cheesecake Factory. This marked our 12th time and did not disappoint. Our family has been battling sickness after sickness, and thankfully, this particular weekend, we were free from any bugs and could enjoy our night out.

Lots of pictures of Max, because he was across from me and not really cooperating for a picture. BUT, sometimes that captures him just right and so I will share a bunch.

Salon Day

For the kids!
IMG_9997
For some reason, I just don't think they enjoy it quite as much as I do!!
Zoey did great, she always does. In fact, I think it is one of the few times she can stay completely still!
IMG_0002

Max also did pretty well, but was definitely more wiggly! Believe it or not, this was actually his first real haircut by a professional. Usually we just buzz it up. But he has his cool surfer shaggy thing going on and wasn't ready for a buzz, so we needed to get a real haircut!

He volunteered to go first, which I was surprised about. Here he is getting the spritz down!

IMG_9989

Checking himself out in the mirror. He couldn't stop looking around and asking tons of questions. He had to know how everything worked. Very typical Max. He liked the hair dryer (the big one that sits on your head) and the water fountain thing that she had in her salon. Our lady is so sweet, and has two sons of her own, so she let him check it out and see where the water pump was and all kinds of stuff.

Umm... I don't think I like this!

Getting some giggles now that they were almost done!

Hanging with Dad and Day 63: Exhaust Pipes

Zoey was hanging out with Ross in his chopper room recently. Just chatting away and asking lots of questions. She wanted to take a ride as well...

Here is a picture of the last time she was on it. A little over three years ago:

Green Bathroom!

Our kids were sick over their President's Day holiday weekend. Four days off from school, but not feeling well was definitely a bummer! Tied to the house, for the most part, Ross and I decided to tackle another home project... our little bathroom on the main floor. Ross wanted to practice putting up some crown molding and chair rail, so this little powder room was perfect for that. Some before pictures... although the room is so tiny, it was hard to take pictures...

IMG_9899

This bathroom has a full size towel bar that is not super close to the sink. I think it is weird. Plus, you end up flinging water all along the wall when you go to dry your wet hands.
IMG_9897

So, Ross shortened it and moved it closer to the sink. Much better.
IMG_9924

The green color looks different in every picture! I blame the lighting... In real life, it looks more like the above picture than this one. This is very yellow-y. I just wanted to show you Ross' handiwork on the molding. He's ready to tackle other rooms now.
IMG_9926

Although the room is small, this wall needed something. We stole this metal thing from Zoey's room. Her walls are light pink, so it stands out way more against the green. Plus, she hasn't really noticed that it has gone missing, so I'm guessing she didn't care for it in her room anyway!

thank you, ross for your work:)

Day 59- A Little Sunburst Action...

IMG_9931

Day 58 - Lumberjack Hubby

Does anybody else randomly go looking for their husband and find him sawing off tree limbs?

IMG_9929

Actually, Ross is doing a good deed here. During the ice storm, one of the big branches on the neighbors tree broke, so Ross is just helping them out. I didn't get to close, because I wanted to be "undetected." plus, it was too cold for me.

Dining Room Art

So, I finally got one of the wine pictures made into a canvas for our dining room. We still aren't sure which wall to hang it on, or if we want to get a few others made smaller as part of a collage, but I thought I would share what we have so far! It turned out pretty well, its pretty big (36 x 24).

IMG_9940

This wall is big, so it needs other stuff on it... smaller ones of some of the other pictures I took the same day maybe.

Here is Max showing it off and just to give you a size comparison:)

Day 50 - Clementines

We buy oranges and clementines by the boatload in the winter. We eat them, yes, but we also juice them... the clementines make such a sweet and yummy juice, and we even add bunches of spinach and no one knows any different.... bwah ha ha ha!!
