Ole! Cinco de Mayo

We had our annual (its two years in a row, so that makes it annual, right?) Cinco de Mayo Fiesta again this year! Always fun... Here is everyone...

And some people look like they could be on an old western wanted poster... these were so funny too!

Love Language

Ross was writing sweet things on the chalk board the other evening. They were cute things, like "you are the icing on my cupcake, you are the peanut butter to my jelly..." You get the idea. And it was very sweet. And then I saw this part added...

Apparently we all have our love language... and this gun reference, definitely not mine. The macaroni and cheese at least speaks to my inner foodie...

The Art Show

The kids' school always has an Art Show near the end of the year. I used to not like that the kids art didn't come home right away because I loved to hear them talk about the projects they were working on and then hated to not see them for months! But to see the whole school decorated with kids art is definitely cool. And the kids are so proud to show it off that way with their names attached.

Zoey was in a mood, so she only got one picture taken...

She did the kaleidoscope looking thing behind her to the left. I wish I had gotten a picture of her self portrait, because I loved that one.

Max and his pinch pot.

Here he is with his winter tree. He said he put both snow on the tree and "realistic snowflakes!"

Here he is with his water lilies (like monet)

For a craft hater, he was proud of his art, and I was glad for that!

Just for fun...

Ten on the Tenth for May... Hooray!

We are counting down our days until summer and finishing things up each week... here are our ten pictures for today!

Sleepy Zoey getting woken up early in the morning...

And even though we try and enforce lights out and bedtimes for the kids, Max hasn't been sleeping great (he has a stuffy stuffy nose), and so he is tired in the morning as well. They are looking forward to a little sleep in time (like 7!) once school is out. Here is Max sleeping/eating breakfast.

Image 2

And me heading out to run from zombies... (just a funny running app) I didn't wear the sunglasses to run (they'd probably fog up from my sweaty head), but man that would make me, like, the coolest running chick out there, right? Haha!

Image 3

At lunch I gobbled up a whole container of blackberries! They have been so yummy this year.

Image 4

Sometimes on Thursdays, I pick the kids up from school and head to Panera Bread for a snack and to study spelling words for Friday's tests. Zoey's snack always consists of soup!
Image 5

We didn't actually have our spelling lists, however, so we had to do it at home anyway!

Image 6

And tonight was a soccer night for Max, which makes dinner a little challenging. We either eat way early, or way late. And if we eat before, it has to be light enough that it doesn't cause issues during the game (we know this from experience!) So, tonight we were eating before, and I was low on fruit and veggies, so we drank them... juicing style. I added some lime to our orange/carrot/spinach juice... it was a nice change.

Image 7

During Max's games, there are a couple of other older siblings that are stuck hanging around. It is nice that they all play together and keep each other occupied... Here is Zoey...

Image 8

And an action shot of Max...

Image 9

And because it is Thursday, and it's been a long week, and Max did well in his soccer game, and well.... who doesn't love a donut? We stopped on the way home...

Image 11

And here are some bonus ones, because they are happy flowers and summer is coming and I love the colors in the first one...

Chalkboard FUN!

I told Ross I found a bunch of chalkboard pictures on pinterest (see, I love that site), and that I wanted to make one for us! Yay, it was no problem with a quick trip to Lowe's for a half sheet of plywood and chalkboard paint!

It turned out great and is so fun. We draw and play but also just write inspirational things on it as well.

Ross is practicing his Cinco de Mayo guy right here...

Water Drop

Just playing by the sink one day with my macro lens. I just put a pretty paper behind the faucet so that I could get a different reflection other than the back of my sink!

More Easter...

It was so crazy windy during our Egg Hunt, that I had to take some pictures of the family in the house. I tried to set up a little spot for us to get a family picture, but really, that is just the easy part. Getting everyone to look at the camera at the right time? not so easy... But, I love them anyway, it captures where we are right now...

IMG_5997

I actually love Zoey's face in this one. I think she thought we were on a goofy face shot here...

IMG_6000

IMG_6003

And I had to take a picture of our jungle animal eggs. They were so darn cute! I got the kit at Target. I wish I would have bought more... Zoey and I made most of these. Max made one.

So cute right?

Well, if you didn't think they were cute, then that was way too many pictures of dyed eggs...

We headed to some friends for Easter Dinner. We made a cake the night before...(Ross and Zoey were frosting) and here it is... A PEEP cake made to look like a sunflower! Idea found on pinterest... love

Hope you had a lovely Easter too.

Easter

I always love when Easter falls a little later in the year (or in April, at least) so that it at least feels spring like.

We got up early for church and then had our Egg Hunt in the backyard after we got back home. Since the kids are older, Ross set up a challenge for them... He said he had a talk with the Easter Bunny. The kids had a time limit, and then when their time was up, Ross had a shorter limit to go hunt down any eggs they missed. (In case you didn't know, we are not competitive in this family, at all...)

so, they were off...

Getting some last minute instructions and boundary information...
IMG_5929

IMG_5932

Zoey's moving so fast her hair is flying... (not really, it was super windy)
IMG_5933

IMG_5934

Ross, (I mean the Easter Bunny), even put eggs in a real nest... the kids didn't get these, I thought it was a little gross...

IMG_5939

Uh oh! Time is running out!!
IMG_5943

And then it was Ross's turn. I made him use Zoey's basket...

IMG_5949

Every time he got an egg, the kids got REALLY nervous!
IMG_5951

BUT, in the end, it wasn't even close. The kids had over a 100 more eggs. we are still even finding some in the yard whenever we mow.

And, not that the kids really believed in the Easter Bunny anymore, anyway, BUT Ross announces at the end, "Man, I found some good hiding spots for the eggs this year!" Zoey quickly got her proof and shared this knowledge with Max who just said, "the Easter Bunny is real, He's just at Frisch's Big Boy!" (a local restaurant)

And, just some more "artsy" pictures of Ross and his basket:)
