Ten on the Tenth - February...

The idea is to take ten photos on the tenth of the month and share it, documenting a day of your life and the ordinary moments. There is beauty in the ordinary.

What up, February... Looks like I won't be too far behind on getting this months 10 up!!

This was no ordinary day, however... Zoey and I were headed back to Colorado after she played in a soccer tournament in Phoenix! I will blog a little more on that later, but for now... our day:

We had some night games and still had to be up early for player breakfasts and meetings with the team, so I let Zoey sleep in on this morning. Here she is with Grandma at breakfast...

Getting packed and ready to head out on our travel day.

I told Zoey to get in a picture with Grandma and Papa and she said, "Let's pretend to drink tea!" So, here's that:

Zoey chugs her tea.

And non tea drinking:

On the way, we stopped for In-N-Out burger... because, if you are close, you just have to...

IMG_5175

I sent a picture of my burger (at 10:30 am, btw) to Ross... he said I was mean. But I think he forgets that he did that to me for years on all of his travel trips back west!!

Airport:

The terminal had a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, which makes my favorite Chai tea latte... So, this day was actually all about my foodie needs, now that I see the pictures. What can I say? It is a highlight to my travel.

Thankfully, the flight from Phx-Denver is short enough that it is pretty much not a big deal. Plus, traveling with an 11 year old? Cake. Here we are flying over the mountains. Not so excited to see snow again. And that is Zoey yawning on the left. Didn't plan that.

I sure missed the boys back home and was glad to see them when we landed. Zoey and I were hungry, so we headed to Under the Sun, part of the Mountain Sun Brewery Restaurants where February is Stout Month! Ross and Max had gone over the weekend, and realized there was no schedule to the stout beers being available, so here we are, trying some new ones:

See, more food/drink. I had a chai milk stout and it was good.

And my only pictures of Max and Ross for the day: Home watching the Olympics.

The End. Happy February.

January Ten on the Tenth

Max's sick day turns into my bloggy catch up day. I better get to January's Ten on the Tenth before February...

Early morning walk with the dog. Here's a look back at our building...

walking with Zoey to school. She likes walking with Leo.
IMG_5095

I continued for a longer walk with the dog and he found a dead mouse in the snow to carry along. Gross...

this is not just the day of Leo. Ross came home because we had to get his truck serviced. I followed him...

Hello Boulder Toyota...

IMG_5102

It was going to take a while so we left it there to pick up after dinner. We had a bit of time to waste before getting Max...
Our little town has 3 coffee shops on Main Street! Crazy. We tried the one I hadn't had before... I had a chai tea, but Ross had a coffee...

Hi Max, happy Friday!!

A COLD WALK

Just after New Years it was FREEZING, so of course, we went on a walk!

Everyone put on layers and layers. Leo even got his camo sweater thing...

IMG_5036

Max decided it was too cold to open his eyes.

IMG_5040

I don't think he would get very far.
IMG_5042

Zoey is usually game for any outdoor activity, plus, she will never admit to being too cold. She gets that from her Dad, not that you couldn't guess that. But one of the first times we met, it was LA and it was February, so when the sun went down, it was cold, and it was an outdoor gathering. Ross was having an unspoken contest to see who would be first to put on a shirt... just a funny memory for me, but I digress,

Brr... just looks cold. who had this crazy idea...
IMG_5059

one of us is enjoying it, for sure...

Here is Leo's impression of a Chinese dog!

I love the fun hats kids of all ages wear these days. Grandma got this one for Zoey from the town street faire. It is made with some different animal wool, that I can't remember right now!

Leo's breed are varmint chasers so he loves to sniff things out. He does it like crazy in the snow and then comes out looking like this or worse.

Ten on Tuesday

1. we are on day two of Max being home sick from school. just a bad cold, so I am thankful for the extra cuddles and sleep ins for him and hope that Zoey doesn't get it.

2. I don't want Zoey sick because we leave in two days for Phoenix for soccer!

3. This is her off season and they will be playing one of the top rated Arizona teams. She's a little nervous, but I keep telling her this is just one of those "life experiences." I mean, traveling with your soccer team as an 11 year old, that's fun, right?

4. and if you were cheering for the Broncos, well... that was a bust huh? We had been watching a lot of the games near the end because 1. we live here, and 2. Zoey hears about it all the time and likes sports, so we paid attention. Bummer of an ending. Zoey rainbow loomed a football player and ball though. She turned the football into a necklace!

5. Plus, Ross had to work Superbowl Sunday, boooo!

6. my fruit pictures came in the mail last night. it is so different to see them in print. they turned out well, but I need more to fill up the space and don't just want fruit...

7. In Ohio, we had snow days a lot (although I hear they are having a crazy amount this year). It was for the safety of the kids, with lots or rural roads and stuff, but here, we get nothing. I am learning how to deal with the driving in the snow, but I still hate it. I will say though, that our new Subaru is fantastic on the snowpacked roads.

8. if you have a keurig, the Gevalia Signature blend coffee is so good! I have tried a lot in my attempt to find a good, plain, everyday coffee, and this one is my favorite.

9. Are you ready for the Olympics? I love to watch them, so I am excited. My favorite is curling.

10. Our little town was in Sunset magazine as a runner up for best place to live. Pretty cool. It's definitely an interesting town. Small population in itself so part of it definitely has a small town feel. (kids walk to school and stop at the coffee shop on the way for breakfast) But close to the bigger cities of Boulder and Denver. If only there was a beach somewhere.... (so greedy, I am)

fruity

So, in this house, we have some rooms that I just want to be colorful, and happy:)

I needed to get some stuff to put up on the wall. I figured in the kitchen, food pictures would be fun! I did some the other day with fruit. I thought I would share. I don't want all fruit, and I am not sure now if these are the ones I ordered for the wall, but, I like them either way.

I did this bubbly orange shot before, but I tried again to see if I could improve it...

IMG_4913 webcopy

I changed the color background too...

I made Ross pick out the very best of the lemons and limes, and he did a good job:)
IMG_5025web copy

IMG_5030 webcopy

are fruit pictures in the kitchen so cliche? I have other ideas to add to the collage, I just haven't had a chance to take them... I guess the wine picture in our dining room of our old house was the same idea and I didn't get tired of looking at it, at least until now.
