sunny spot

Leo has found his morning spot to sleep in. Max and I leave for school, and Zoey stays home to get ready. She tells me with the longer days, that the sun shines just right while she gets ready, and that Leo stays in one spot and snoozes. (he used to follow her around)...

Snow Plants

In the beginning of April we had a really wet, heavy snow and it was quite a bit... 4-6 inches! I felt bad for all of the trees that were starting to have buds on them. Since I didn't get many snow pictures this year, I decided to try on this day...

IMG_5413

see what I mean with these poor little tree blossoms?

Ten on Tuesday

1. Happy Earth Day. It was bike to school day here in Boulder Valley... We drove and walked like usual. My kids are too logical (and explained why they didn't need to bike) and also, a little anti-establishment. We recycle though...:)

2. We finally got rid of our Jeep that kept breaking down on me. (it was 12 years old, so it had a good life with us) We replaced it with a fancy blender!!

Delicious, healthy green smoothies galore!

IMG_5410

and yes, you read that right. we bought a blender with money from a vehicle! nice.

3. We got a Vitamix, if you are wondering, and it is pretty cool. We have always juiced, but smoothies are different and fun and more fiber/less mess! I have also made almond milk, and homemade mayo that is awesome (and I don't even like mayo normally!).

4. I think we finally turned the corner into Spring and maybe, maybe there will be no more snow!! I do have snowy pictures to post from the beginning of April though.

5. I hope you had a nice Easter. We got up to go to mass at 6am in order to beat the crowds. It was tiring, but so worth it.

6. The kids have 28 school days left, but who's counting? That would be me; I know the number starting from about 50. What can I say, I love summer with them.

7. Plus, summer last year was crazy, since we were kind of homeless.

8. Renting an apartment versus owning our townhouse or any house means nothing to Max. He could be happy either way, as long as he has some of his stuff to do. So, we were walking by this new apartment complex near us the other day and someone was swimming in the pool. He asked when we get to go swimming, and I told him, it wasn't our pool to swim in. He just said, "What? Why did you choose the wrong place to live then?" I assured him, we are close to other pools and will go as soon as they open. That would be "McMorial" Day to him.

9. I finally finished turning all of our blog years into books. I just ordered 2011, 2012 and 2013. I am excited to see them in print. I am so amazed at the little things we forget, and even if it is only important to me, I am glad it is all written down.

10. Easter inspired quote, "The Crucifix does not signify defeat or failure. It reveals to us the love that overcomes evil and sin." -Pope Francis.

word.

Happy Tuesday Friends.

April 10 on the 10th

The idea is to take ten photos on the tenth of the month and share it, documenting a day of your life and the ordinary moments. There is beauty in the ordinary.

April 10th...

Max is really ready for summer... spring break off was just too nice! Waking up the little sleepyhead... looking through the rail on his top bunk...

IMG_5580

Every morning after he gets up and out of his sleepiness... he requires one good morning kiss from Leo...
IMG_5582

After I take Max to school, I come home and get ready to walk Zoey to school and finish with a walk with Leo... when I come home, he is lounging in his new favorite early morning spot.

IMG_5587

birds are singing on our walk...
IMG_5589

I had to run some errands and check something out at this place. It is JAX, it is a Colorado chain like REI.
IMG_5597

And then home to do some stuff on the computer. I am finishing up all of my blog books... trying to get caught up. I am finally working on 2013! Hooray!
IMG_5598

After the kids came home from school, Max and I went on a run. We want to do a family 5K, so he ran 1.9 miles today! Good Job Buddy!

Zoey just chillin' a little before practice.

About to head out for soccer... doing a little crazy soccer dance... I don't know how to describe it. It's not a dance, it is an agility movement thing, but of course, it just looks like she is stepping on the ball...

And, I didn't see Ross in the daylight hours (boo), so he is not in this set. Happy April! In Colorado, that means snow. (double boo)

First S'mores of the Season

Another thing on our Spring Break List was to have the First S'mores of the Season after Ross grilled...

Thankfully, we did have some nice days and evenings to make it happen.

Freezeria

We did a little staycation for Spring Break. It was relaxing and we got a lot of stuff done. Usually Zoey has a bye week for soccer, but this year they didn't and we new that in advance, so we just did fun things each day. We even made a list and checked things off!!

The kids have been playing a game on the iPad called Freezeria. You are a worker in an ice cream shop taking orders and making the milkshakes. You have to really multitask, and it is a little stressful at times (just for me, the kids are fine at it). I am weak when it comes to the power of suggestion and food...So, we had our real life freezeria day....

IMG_5378

This one is Max's... must have Oreos!
IMG_5380

And Zoey's. She couldn't decide between fruity, nutty, and chocolatey... so she got a bit of everything!
IMG_5381

They made up order tickets for us as well...
IMG_5383

Here's mine... chocolate shavings and everything. schmancy
IMG_5385

Ross didn't go the blended route, so no pictures of his.

And one morning on spring break (Ross took the weak off to hang), he and I were up early with the dog, while the kids slept in. Leo decided to work his way up into Ross's lap to lay down. It was so funny, because we hadn't seen it before. Ross let him stay for a while so I could get this picture and the kids could see it. They were jealous, but really, Ross is the only one who could actually sit still long enough for this to happen!

Ross's Birthday

I didn't even know if Ross would actually make it home from work on his birthday. He had to drive to Colorado Springs for the day, but didn't know if he would end up staying the night or not. Anyway, I didn't plan much, except get donuts... his favorite, and some craft beers.

The flowers were not for him, I just had them, so I set them on the table. Zoey made a wordle about him which was cute, and she snuck in some sillies. And Leo made him a card as well!

As you can see, his mustache is in full coming in mode...

Mustache March

I don't know when it started, but March is the month that many in the military grow a mustache. Even the Chief of Staff guy was sending out selfies... Here is Ross:

mustache march

If nothing else, it definitely made me laugh a little each time I saw him. And he got some funny looks from other soccer parents not really sure what he was doing!
