Hurray for Pretty Evening Light!

Just some pictures from the other night when the light was right!

Ross posing for me to set up before I bribe the kids...

He's very good and patient, I must say... He has posed for me many times so that I can practice different things.

District Art Show

A couple of Zoey's art projects were selected to represent her school in the district art show recently. It was quite a neat event. All of the schools (elementary through high school) are represented and the kids' art work is put on display. I loved to see it all set up like that. Zoey really liked looking at the older kids work as well and seeing all the different mediums they used. So neat to see the talent out there of the young people.

Here is Zoey by one of her pieces (2nd from left). It is the yarn art behind her. She actually had another piece on display but we didn't even know until she got to take it home again!

Nice Job, Zoey!

How 'bout a little Ten on Tuesday Action?

1. Am I the only one who feels the need to answer people with "word"? I don't know why, but ... it cracks me up, so I use it. Word. It's a talent to pull it off, however.

2. So that was really weird and random, right? Only 8 days left and then "School's OUT FOR SUMMER!" LOVE

3. It feels like it, too. We went from cold and stormy to hot, hot! I only mind the heat because it is like 92 degrees in the kids classrooms (not kidding)! They are putting in AC this summer! YAY!

4. Ross was so sweaty yesterday and I must have made a comment about it being good for him and that he was getting toxins out of this body... so Max shared it with his kids in the class today when they complained about being hot and sweaty... they must have thought that was weird!

5. The weather is calm this week because Ross is home. We had crazy storms/tornadoes for two weeks while he was gone. Always happens that way. We survived with no damage, thank goodness, as I know many were not as lucky. One night after one of our tornado warnings, the sky cleared up completely and was glowing! I tried to capture it...
IMG_0889

It wasn't quite like anything I had seen before... do you see the deck railing glow a little? It was stunning and surreal.

6. The other day Max and I were driving behind a van that said "POOPIE POLICE". It was actually two cars in front of us, so I couldn't read what it actually did. We were discussing what its business was (maybe goose poop or dogs was his guess) when he just said, "Poopie Police... GIGGLE. See mommy, I don't even have to laugh, I can just say Giggle instead!" His humor makes me laugh!

7. I have to give Zoey some props too! Her last soccer game was this past week. She did pretty awesome. One of her best attributes is her speed and determination. If someone gets by her, she will chase them back down (she is fast) and not give up until she gets the ball again. So, in her last game, they were playing a team that was really good, and had a handful of really good players as well. Zoey's team played their hardest and she really did good at keeping them from doing much. I think it frustrated those other girls. At the end of the game, Zoey was talking about the game and describing a play against one of the girls and she said, "That girl looked at me and said, 'Oh no you don't!' and I just turned to her and said, 'OH YES I DO!' and Mommy, I took that ball!"

Although I don't advocate smack talk at age 8, I must say I am proud!

8. Here is Max's team at the end of their last game. Such sweet kindergartners!

9. I finally bought a bag that is padded for my camera. It is a purse looking bag and I really want to love it and I just don't. I like how protected and safe the camera is, and that I could have an extra lens with me, but I hate carrying it around, so it defeats the purpose. Bummer. Photog friends, what do you do?

10. I just realized how I haven't posted a bunch of stuff.. ooops, I'm off to do that... Happy Tuesday Friends, and Yay! June Tomorrow:)

Day 132 - Happy Daisy

My neighbor's garden was overflowing in daisies, so she gave me one to plant in our yard. It makes me smile... Here are some I picked the other day:)

IMG_0762

And our grocery store had some wheatgrass, so I bought it to make my own shot, just like at jamba juice (which I miss, sigh)...

My Mother's Day

The end of the school year is always so busy! Between our rain storms, we try and stay outside as much as possible, so I am behind with the blogging! Oh well, living life, not just writing about it, I guess.

My mother's day was super nice. We actually had a good weather day, so we decided to head to the zoo (free for mom's) with everyone else in Cincinnati! It wasn't super busy, we just had a surprisingly long wait to enter.

I'm not normally a take a bunch of pictures of the animals at the zoo kind of person... but I was trying to capture our day.
IMG_0684

Plus, why else do they have these animal statues! Posing kids of course. Not that my kids pose... I mean, Max is actually picking his nose in the background, NICE!
IMG_0687

Here they are actually looking at the camera! This is the Japanese garden with a huge koi pond where Zoey bent over to talk to the fish and her gum fell out! I am not sure how well koi are at digesting gum... does it stay with them for seven years?

The lorikeets are always fun...

We just saw the movie RIO, so we stopped by the blue macaws...

This is my favorite animal picture of the day... I don't know what his name is, however...

Just as I am about to snap the picture, the train goes by behind me... way more interesting than momma!
IMG_0736

Some cool houses...
IMG_0738

We stopped by a neat bookstore and ate some lunch and headed home. It wasn't until after baths that I realized I didn't get pictures of me! Still bad at that... so here we are at the end of Mother's Day... thanks sweet family:)

Cinco de Mayo! OLE!!

A couple of our friends got together on May 6 (ha!) to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! I think it must be because I went to college in Texas... But, whatever the case... I love Cinco de Mayo! I mean really, what's not to love? margaritas and sombreros and a chance to say "Ole!"

IMG_0619

Zoey made this gun and then sewed herself a holster for it! Her daddy was proud.
IMG_0623

Everyone took there turns wearing the sombrero! OLE!

IMG_0632

Look... Here's Me!
IMG_0630
Things are going to get spicy!!
IMG_0644

And then came the mustaches!

here's baby William and Hombre Ross

William and his dad, Andrew having a mustache moment...
IMG_0682

I wore the mustache too, but that thing was so itchy I couldn't stand it! I don't know how Ross wore it all night. But it gave everyone a good laugh...
cinco de mayo

Next year we may have to expand the Fiesta! OLE!

soccer Max

here are some action shots of Max at a soccer game recently...
IMG_0607

This little guy wouldn't leave Max alone and would just grab onto him (as you can see in the picture). But, he did well, and just shook it off and let the kid do what he had to do! I like the picture though...

day 125 - Frost

The other morning we woke up to frost everywhere. It felt more like a cool fall morning rather than spring...

Nest - Day 120

I could see the robins in the yard, so I was wondering if a nest was nearby... the other day, I found it under our deck!

IMG_0500

Kite Day

Max had Kite Day at school recently! Ross and I were both able to attend the fun afternoon!

IMG_0486

Ross and Max got the kite up first and as high as it would go. I heard some kids say, "whoa, Max's kite is on its way to Heaven!" I think I would just laugh all day hanging out with kindergarteners!

IMG_0487

As you can imagine from the scene above, I spent a lot of my time untangling other kites!

Max had more fun running around the blacktop and chasing the shadows of the kites on the ground!

Here is his Spongebob and Patrick kite!

Day 115 - Perennial

I've decided that I love the perennial plants that pop up every spring! I forget a couple of them and then you all of sudden see a little green thing pop up and there's more this year than the last! Crazy. The definition of perennial is persistant, enduring. I like that too. Inspiration! I have no idea about plants and their care and upkeep, so when things come back I get excited!

Zoey Soccer Video

I wanted to share a quick soccer video of Zoey. I thought our family would enjoy it! She is number 10. She makes a shot attempt, then gets the ball from another girl and scores, and then takes the ball herself and scores. Unfortunately half our games this season have been cancelled due to rain!
