Soccer Season Ends

I don't normally buy hot dogs on a regular basis.

What? I thought this post was about soccer?

It is, I promise.

But first, hot dogs. Zoey loves them! So I kind of use them as a fast, easy, fun dinner every now and then. The other day at the store, though, something told me to buy them.

Fast forward a couple days... Zoey had an evening soccer game. We normally try and eat an early dinner before the game. I have a meal plan system, and on soccer nights it is something easy, but still takes a little prep time. And this was the plan for this particular night as well, EXCEPT, that I was playing with Max upstairs on my bed and well... I just fell asleep!! So I didn't have time to make my scheduled dinner. Instead I had the hotdogs! Zoey was excited and we told her that it was her special pre-game meal for lots of energy and good soccer playing!! Well, it worked! She had her best game of the season, just playing hard and being aggressive. We mentioned jokingly afterward that it must have been the hot dogs!! And she agreed.

So, the Saturday morning game came along and what did Ross make her for breakfast? The All New Breakfast of Soccer Champions, of course!

How 'bout some scrambled eggs and a side of hotdog? Yummmmm

She had another good game, by the way. And enjoyed the trophy ceremony afterward. Here she is with the coaches getting the trophy!

And smiling proud:

Max's Digestive System

Last night, Ross got Max out of the bath and was helping him get ready for bed...drying him off and putting on PJs.

Ross said, "Okay, let me dry off your chest. That's where your muscles are." Max made the muscle pose.

Ross said, "Next, let's dry off your belly. That's where the food goes."

Max adds, "And this is where the food comes out!" Pointing emphatically to his bum.

"AND... this is where the drinks come out!" Pointing to, well, you know where.

(And if you didn't) He quickly yelled, "MY PENIS!"

Mommy according to Max

I am so far behind... I blame illness in the house! Anyway, I wanted to write some of Max's interview he had at school about his mommy:)

1. My mommy is 33 years old. Not yet, technically...

2. She weighs 50 and is tall. He actually weighs 50 lbs... I know, he is a dense little dude.

3.
Her hair is brown and her eyes are brown.

4. My mommy is prettiest when she is happy.

5. My mommy likes to make cookies. yes, it is true... those mini chocolate chips call out to me

6. She loves to cook many foods.

7. Her favorite TV show is Lost. I told you we were loving it!! So perceptive he is... He always sneaks out of bed and sits at the top of the stairs when we are watching. He gives himself away though when the title of the show pops up and we hear him say, "it says Lost!"

8. My mommy likes to shop for snacks. Sad, but kind of true... I do love a good grocery store.

9. My mommy is funny when she hugs me.

10. I really love my mommy because I love my snacks! Are you seeing a theme here? yikes, i need a new hobby.

So there it is... Always so funny to see their perspective.

Zoey made a book called, "The many jobs of Mom" where she wrote things like

My mom is a chef. She makes rice.
My mom plants flowers. She is a gardener.
My mom takes care of my hair. She is a beautician.

The greatest thing about her book are the pictures. They are so cute.

Captain Underpants

We went to the bookstore recently to hang out and well, look at books. Max went into the kids area, grabbed a couple of books, and headed straight to his usual spot... a couple of low benches... where he sat down to peruse his findings. And then he just stopped and stared. We asked him what he was looking at, and he just turned back to his books and said, "nothing". We kept catching him in this stare and finally figured out what it was he was staring at! It was this series of books:

We could tell that he just thought it was so strange and he didn't know if he should go look at it or not. It didn't help that Zoey is cracking up, saying, "Captain Underpants! HAHAHAHA What is that crazy book? HAHAHA Captain Underpants! That is the silliest thing!!"

We told Max it was okay to investigate. Here he is getting a closer look:

And here he is venturing to look inside the book, without actually opening it, tilted head and all...

I actually don't know anything abut these books. I think they are a big hit with the older elementary boys. It was just funny how Max was so drawn to it, but still thought it was strange.

Bubbles, Bubbles...

Ahhh, Bubbles. Such joy for children of all ages. We have had many a bubble wand, but my mom recently sent the best one yet. It has a battery operated fan attached, and blows tons of bubbles! It is easy for young kids to use as well. Because of its ease of use, we very quickly ran out of bubble juice. I tried to make more, but it just wasn't the same. I am going to have to invest in the gallon jug! Maybe Costco has some...

here we are making Bubble Fun:

Ahhh... I love the bubbles, but I just can't keep my eyes open!

And, oh, just loving the outdoors again. Spring, you are my friend.

Scooby Max and other Sillies

Max and I had a fun and silly morning this morning. After a couple minutes of giggles, I decided to get out the camera and capture some of it.

I like how he is peeking at the camera in this one:

And here he is caught in laughter... This is common with Max, especially when he is a little tired. He gets paralyzed with laughter and it is very infectious!

A self pic of the two of us! When Max is right next to me, you can definitely see a resemblance, but it is the exact same with Ross. Zoey, on the other hand, totally favors her Daddy.

And Max brought this home from school today. I thought it was so cute. They had cowboy week last week, so here is his "WANTED" Poster.

And here are both kiddos afterschool today! Zoey wanted to join in the fun:

And have I mentioned Max is a Scooby Doo fan? Well, to end our morning of laughter, he wanted me to record him singing the Scooby Doo theme song! We did it a couple of times. He doesn't know all of the words in the middle, so he just makes up stuff!! It is so cute, and I am glad he was willing to let me capture it!
