everyday...

I like my ten on the tenth posts because they both challenge me and capture the every day, however, there is a lot going on in a month between them! So, here are some pictures of just little things I was noticing, about the kids playing, about our house here, and just living life...

Shadows and warm sun and dogs to play with...

chubby cardinal

We often see this guy hanging around the backyard, but never realized how chubby he was getting. I guess he is all good for winter! He really stands out in the snowy background here, though. I couldn't get closer without him flying off.

I just saw this on the neighbors lawn the other day and took some pictures. I think it looked cooler in person.

Meet Bitty Bob

Zoey had an assignment to study and report about a specific planet (Ross and I both said Uranus, hee, hee, right along with all of the boys in her class!) She chose Venus though, such a good girl.

Anyway, along with learning about the planet, she had to take what she learned and make up a creature that could live on the planet, considering its conditions. And then she made a model.

She made him out of air dry modeling clay and he really came out so cute, so I had to post about it.

Ross helped her get his fang teeth in, which requires a welding helmet.

Here is her description and then the final model...

Bitty Bob, A Life on Venus
Bitty Bob is a short creature that lives on Venus. He is one foot three inches tall and one foot three and a half inches wide (he is very round and flat). Also Bitty Bob has super slick and smooth skin which is a green color. The green color is important because other creatures of his kind can tell where he is and warn him of any danger. He has bright blue wings so he does not have to touch Venus’ hot surface too often. He also has sharp claws on his hands and feet, and teeth to bite and take out rocks from the surface. Bitty Bob also has short, strong feet so he can walk on the bumpy, rocky surface on Venus when he has to do something like make a home. Also, he has sticky, gooey, bluish slime covering his slick skin to keep him safe from the hot temperatures.
Bitty Bob has to be very resourceful since there are not many resources on Venus. The first thing Bitty Bob has to do to survive is eat. He gets his food by finding lava (there is a lot of lava on Venus since there are many volcanoes) and then coating it with his body slime to cool it down before eating it. Since he only eats lava as his food, his body is always producing new slime. Also Bitty Bob needs to make his own home. Because he has sharp claws and teeth, he can bite or dig-out rocks and then stack them up to make a small cave for himself (he does not like to be around others of his kind too often). Also Bitty Bob has to have some way of breathing. He inhales carbon dioxide (his body automatically takes out the sulfuric acid which is in the atmosphere with the carbon dioxide) and exhales oxygen. He breathes the opposite of a human.
Bitty Bob might look cute, but he will eat anything that he sees. He also likes to scratch things with his sharp claws just for his own enjoyment. If you put all of this together, you will realize Bitty Bob is not a good pet for us on Earth. Also, Bitty Bob cannot breathe on Earth because he inhales carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen. On earth, humans and animals inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Also if Bitty Bob lived with you, he would eat up all your food because on Venus all he has is rocks. Bitty Bob is a very neat and interesting creature that lives on Venus.

Ten on the Tenth

The idea is to take ten photos on the tenth of the month and share it, documenting a day of your life and the ordinary moments. There is beauty in the ordinary.

A Sunday! It started pretty early with church... trying to capture more of our surroundings that we pass daily...
image 1

After church on Sundays we hit up Panera Bread, which includes a visit with Gary (what can I say, we go there a lot).

mmm... coffee....
image 2

and then we passed the camera around...

image 3

(i got a hair cut)

image 4

We needed just some final touches for our house (should go on the market this week!) so we headed to IKEA!!!

They recently remodeled ours, so the arrows on the floor (Max's favorite part), now shine down, from above. And can land on other things...

this way, to Zoey's head!

image 5

We had to step on EVERY arrow, and see it on our shoes.

image 6

We were successful at IKEA, and headed home, but stopped first for new shoes...

image 7
Can't go wrong with classic awesomeness, right?

And Ross got busy putting together our purchases... just some chairs, which I forgot to take a picture of! I will...
image8

The kids play the wii with these two, tiny dogs! One plays with the remote, and one plays the nunchuk, and they succeed. The communication to do this is pretty neat (because one contols movement, and the other jumps/spins). All while talking in puppy voices...

image 9

And Zoey and Ross's dinner request.. breakfast... we tried corncakes (cornbread pancakes) this time. thumbs up verdict.

Happy Tenth and Happy Valentine's Week!
