May Ten on the Tenth

I did actually take these pictures on the tenth of May, but couldn't get them on here. Anyway...

The idea is to take ten photos on the tenth of the month and share it, documenting a day of your life and the ordinary moments. There is beauty in the ordinary.

It gets light out so early now and we are often woken up by the geese arguing! Zoey fed some ducks before she left for school...

And as Ross was nearing his end days at work, we got to eat breakfast together a couple times. This morning we went to Mimi's. They have good coffee...

image 2

And because we are so close to the school, I sometimes sneak over at lunch to eat with Max! (Zoey doesn't want me to eat lunch with her, but I am okay with that. It is her only time to just chat with friends.)

Image 3

It was rainy, rainy on this day, so I got some goose shots of the littles...
image 4

And we had plans to meet up with friends for dinner, so I got all gussied up... Except that I didn't even use that eyelash curler... my eyelashes are too short and it just doesn't work and makes me cry...
image 5

Before we left, the baby duck came to visit... he is so cute!
image 8

We went to the Cheesecake Factory. The girls all sit together. I love this one and all their faces and smiles...

image 6

We go early enough for happy hour!
image 7

I tried to get a pic of me and max... fail:)
image 9

And then to the Vrabecs for play time after...

Fun times with fun friends...

I love that all of the pictures are in daylight. And even though it's May 30, hope all of May was great!

Max's First Communion

A month ago, Max celebrated his First Communion at Church! We are very proud of him. He has been working and learning all year and was very excited for this day. There were about 80+ kids doing this on this weekend, but we picked the 8am Mass and so we were only one of four this early morning!

Max looked so handsome in his suit.

This is when they were all finished at the end.

And a kind stranger offered to take a family shot. But, he didn't press the shutter button all the way and so by the time we got it corrected, we were sort of done with the posing!!

Blooming Trees

This is by far the worst allergy year I have had here, but the blooming trees make for lovely pictures...

These two are the same, just messed with them in photoshop...

Reggie and The White Ducks...

sort of sounds like a band, right?

when you live among the animals, as we are, you get to know them and distinguish among them. Some of the ducks travel in packs, like dogs. And since we are a family that names things, well, we name the ducks. The little mallards are coupled off or individuals, so they have individual names, but the ones in packs, have group names. Like "the bullies" because they run everyone off. And then, there are these four white pekin ducks and another brownish white one that hang out around the apartments like they run they place.

We call them the White Ducks (original, I know) and the odd guy out is Reggie.

If they see you coming, they come up to you. We did an experiment to see if they would come in the apartment...

They totally did! No hesitation!
IMG_1984

I didn't want them pooping so Max got them out right away.

IMG_1985

But they still wanted to hang out. This picture totally cracks me up! I think the one in the back trying to see what is going on is hilarious!
IMG_1987

Their eyes are so dark they look like holes. But they are nice and friendly.

if they weren't so darn squawky, I would say I might even miss seeing them around.

Goslings...

I have thought about not inundating my blog with pictures of ducks and geese, but this is our life right now... so, I am capturing it... goose poop and all...

This momma had three babies to watch over...
IMG_1881

They are really cute when they are little. But, they go through an awkward teenage phase... For now, so cute...

The goslings would get pretty close, but mom would hiss at me the whole time I took pictures.

playing catch up!

You would think that not having much to do and living in a barely furnished apartment would allow me to catch up on blogging and not get way behind AGAIN, but no such luck. Throw in a malfuctioning computer and well... here I am...

Just a bunch of random...

Here is that heron thing about to take off...

And Zoey taking a goal kick at one of her soccer games. She has been playing a ton this spring, including playing on two different teams some times. We have traveled for games a lot too. Throw in Max's games and we pretty much spent 5-6 nights a week at a the soccer fields. It has been a blessing though. Something fun and outdoor to do. If Zoey just had practice. We would all just go and hang out, take Max on a little run and enjoy it.

Our apartment is close to the school and when Zoey stayed late for talent show practice (more on that later) she would walk home from school when it was done. She enjoyed that independence! And she brought flowers to me everyday. Here are some from a blossoming tree...
