Ten on the Tenth on Tuesday

The idea is to take ten photos on the tenth of the month and share it, documenting a day of your life and the ordinary moments. There is beauty in the ordinary.

An interesting thought on this date, Sep 10. In 2001, Ross and I were living in Redondo Beach and were doing a workout at the beach that evening. I jumped up onto a concrete bench and my left hand scraped against the side of the bench. When I looked down at my hand, I noticed the diamond out of my engagement ring was missing! We didn't find it and were pretty bummed about it the whole rest of the night. The next morning we woke up to hear about planes being flown into buildings on the East Coast. It certainly put our thoughts into perspective and has always served as a lesson to me. A reminder to remember what is really important and to take the time to enjoy the little things and the journey... This is why I do these posts and it is no surprise when I look back, that they are my favorite captures...

An early morning and I didn't sleep well... I think the person above us was up every couple of hours, too! But alas, this isn't coffee because I have no coffee maker!! soon, we will meet again...

A few sprinkles this morning. Max has an Angry Birds hood attached to his backpack!! It kills me! I love it.

Still living in the apartment means we practically live out of our car. Ross calls my life, "Hurry up and Wait!" We drop off Max and then go to Zoey's school. Waiting in the car for hers to start.

After I dropped both kids off I headed to a nearby lake for a run before the rain hit...

And it did!

The rain actually was a huge blessing for me today. Tuesdays and Thursdays are crazy busy with pick up from school, both kids in soccer but at different times in different places and trying to get homework done in coffee shops, and parks and changing in the car or public bathrooms! But, the rain cancelled Max's practice and moved Zoey's up to an earlier time and indoor!

Waiting for Max at pick up after school, and checking our countdown to our house!!! We know the seconds...

Ross beat us home and had dinner cooking when we got there! yay! He is always such a good sport...

homework time with Dad (he handles all science related stuff)

Zoey's soccer homework was to watch the men's national team qualify for the World Cup, and hooray, you get to see more pictures of my feet... (I had forgotten I already did a shot of them earlier, oh well)

I hope your day is grand and your September lovely. Cheers to the little things and remembering what it's all about. Peace.

Just a couple of random close ups...

This guy had blue legs that I thought were so neat. He stayed pretty still until I got just a little too close.

And water drops are always fun to take with the macro lens...

Colorado Rapids Soccer

In July, Zoey attended a soccer camp and she got a free ticket (and discounts for us) to a Colorado Rapids soccer game. We also got to participate in the flag ceremony during the national anthem. This meant we walked out on the field before the game and helped hold a gigantic Colorado flag. Even though we had to arrive super early and wait forever, it turned out to be a fun experience. Whenever we go to professional sports games, Zoey always wants to know how kids get to do stuff on the field, so I figured it would be fun for her to do this.

We weren't supposed to have phones or cameras out on the field, but I snuck some pictures in. Here we are on the field. The game was on ESPN too and I had my parents watching but they only showed us for a second.

And then, we went to our seats. They were super good. Just a couple rows up from the field.

At camp, Zoey met one of the Rapids players and got his autograph on her cleat...

We had a fun day. Everyone enjoyed the experience.

Ten on ... Zoo style

The Holiday weekend has me all messed up, so I am doing my Ten on Tuesday today, Wednesday... Sprinkled with pictures from trip at the Denver Zoo this summer with Grandma Bette. It was really hot, so I only have pictures of the animals for some reason...

1. We are getting close to getting our house! As in, it's almost countdown style. And we are going to be in the local paper for it. I will post a link if I can... We get our pictures taken today. The kids think it's just weird.

2. This means we get our stuff in about 2 weeks! It has been almost 6 months. This may be better than Christmas for Max!

this rhino thinks it's Africa hot...
IMG_2664

3. At some point I have to write a post about all the crazy things that have happened to us since we moved into this Boulder apartment. Not in a "woe is me" type of thing, but just a keepin' it real and would like to remember because one day we will laugh about right? type of way..."

this big horn sheep is like, "who put me in the freakin' Sahara? I can't see in this bright light."
IMG_2665

4. Zoey is doing fine adjusting to middle school, but it is hard moving into a place where people have lived their whole life and aren't used to the military moving thing.

IMG_2666

5. I rarely get on facebook, but it is nice when you have a birthday and people pop out from all over with birthday wishes.

IMG_2670

6. Speaking of birthdays, I turned 37 last week! I think that is crazy. I haven't had issue with any age before but for some reason, this one gets me. not possible. I still have decided what to be when I grow up! HAHA

This picture I took especially for Ross... he has a thing for grizzly bears.
IMG_2674

7. Ross missed my last two birthdays (he was in Afghanistan and then a month long trip to Colorado), so he took the day off for this one. Besides the fact that we had to get the car registered as it expired on my birthday, we had fun!

IMG_2678

8. Max gets to play on the playground before school if we get there early enough (and it starts later here than Ohio), so he has some fun before the day starts. Zoey had that in California, and I thought it was such a nice idea. Don't know what happens when the weather changes though.

this was my favorite picture of the day:

9. Max and Zoey are both in soccer and they practice in different towns on the same day. It causes me stress. that is all.

IMG_2686

10. I hope you have a great rest of the short week and a fun September!! Zoey is 11 at the end of the month... WOW

IMG_2699

I like his tongue here. Have you ever seen a giraffe tongue? HUGE AND PURPLE!
