Captain Underpants

We went to the bookstore recently to hang out and well, look at books. Max went into the kids area, grabbed a couple of books, and headed straight to his usual spot... a couple of low benches... where he sat down to peruse his findings. And then he just stopped and stared. We asked him what he was looking at, and he just turned back to his books and said, "nothing". We kept catching him in this stare and finally figured out what it was he was staring at! It was this series of books:

We could tell that he just thought it was so strange and he didn't know if he should go look at it or not. It didn't help that Zoey is cracking up, saying, "Captain Underpants! HAHAHAHA What is that crazy book? HAHAHA Captain Underpants! That is the silliest thing!!"

We told Max it was okay to investigate. Here he is getting a closer look:

And here he is venturing to look inside the book, without actually opening it, tilted head and all...

I actually don't know anything abut these books. I think they are a big hit with the older elementary boys. It was just funny how Max was so drawn to it, but still thought it was strange.

Those are Jonathans favorite books right now. I thought the same thing the first time I saw them. If you ever want to borrow any...

the title of your post drew me in....hilarious! i love that he wasn't fully committing/indulging (yet probably so wanted to).

i'm sure my boys will be tracking these down at some point! i've seen them and have often wondered. might be time to crack open the cover and take a look. :) --- brooke

yeah, when i saw the title of your post i envisioned that little boy on the Today show who was screaming when they were trying to get him to model the Captain Underpants halloween costume. So, perhaps good books for reading, not such a good idea for halloween. ;-)

That is so funny about a halloween costume!! It would be easy, though... underwear and a cape.. Check.
