Using Your Noggin

We have recently discovered some neat preschool games on the computer that go along with the TV channel, Noggin. Zoey now understands how to use the mouse on the regular computer and on the laptop. She moves it around according to the directions and then asks, "Now do I click on it?"
It is definitely amazing how easy it is for them to pick up on technological things because it is something that has always been around. Max loves the mouse that has the roller thing on top to scroll... (see, I don't even know what it is called, thus the name, roller thing). My nephew Josh just did a homework assignment on Powerpoint. Craziness. But definitely neat. Here is a picture of the kids playing some games on the laptop...

Amazingly, Max is content for now to just watch and cheer Zoey on. He yells, "good job" or "perfect" when the characters say it after Zoey has done something right. We will see how long it takes for him to want to do it too... that may be the end of our new found computer time!!

Another random thought... It is definitely a work from God how angelic and sweet your children look while they are sleeping... It is what makes us keep going, I think. You can have the craziest day, where it seems like they are just pushing your buttons on every issue. You know, they don't want to eat what you made for breakfast, they run around the house when you are trying to get their shoes on, they throw a fit at the store... and then after they have finally gone to bed and you go in to check on them, they look like angels. And to add to it, you can kiss them and touch their soft cheeks and hair and they don't even stir. If I did that to Ross he would grunt at me and ask what I was doing, like I was crazy or something, but the kids stay fast asleep... I don't know when that ends, but I hope it's not soon.

It is amazing how the kids grow up using the computer. For the last 6 months, Anna has gone from needing my help with the mouse, to knowing how to hit the back button all by herself to find her way back to something. She sits and does Sesame Workshop, My Little Pony, Care Bears, and Jig Zone all by herself using the mouse and arrow keys. This is one of the "Samantha's snoozing activities" that we have adopted. I love that we have another avenue of entertainment!

The thing that boggles my mind is what comes out of Anna's mouth. Just yesterday she said that "her socks were not cooperating." They were sliding off of her feet, so she said. She has been asking many questions about Santa, details about him, can she be his helper on his sleigh like "Calliou", if he's here his sleigh and Rudolph must be somewhere...things like that. And the WHY's have been more plentiful. She wants to know WHY for it seems EVERYTHING. It's okay. I give her the best constructed answer that I can think of for a three year old!

Samantha of course is not at this point, but she tackles hurdles of her own every day. She's been walking since 10.5 months, trying to keep up with Anna I assume. She's talking, 7 words, and she loves looking at books. And cats. Our poor cats. Currently she's not sleeping well, hence the reason I am on this at 6:30 am.

As far as the angelic thing goes, I couldn't agree more. I already could kiss my kids all day, and sleep time isn't any different. I read an article in Parents magazine last night about the gifts, other than presents, that a mother was going to give her 9 and 11 year olds. She said more squeezes at any time she could, because she's not allowed to do it as much, especially at the bus stop. HOW SAD! My kids are so loving and affectionate; I can't see it ending. Am I in denial????

Thanks to Ross and Jill for putting this together. It's great to see how Max and Zoey are growing. I remember when they were both so little! You two are great parents and I thank you for being a great role model for other parents!

Thanks for including us! Loking forward to more blogging!

Thanks Amanda, I sure wish we could see Anna and Samantha:) you never know where we will end up, so who knows!! Do you actually have computer games or are they websites? we just started the computer thing, so I don't know what is out there.

Anna usually does sesameworkshop.org. The others I just put the name, like care bears, in the search and it comes up. They are games mostly. We went to Nick Jr. from the Noggin website today, and she loved it. She loves Blues CLues and some of the other shows too. JigZone.com is a place to do jigsaw puzzles from 6 pieces up to a lot more, not sure. Anna is really into puzzles these days, so she got some big floor ones for her birthday. I think My Little Pony is hasbro.com/mylittlepony??? Go to Playtime. There are games in there. I think she just likes to hear the song, although she does love the games too! Hope you like those suggestions. Let me know if you try them. We haven't bought any programs. I just rely on the good old internet! Do you buy games for the kids???

Talk soon!!!

Thanks for the info... gives me lots of ideas. I haven't bought anything either, but we are considering the Leapster TV thing for Christmas. It has a pretty big joystick thing and can be switched when they start writing letters too. I am debating about that, but I think they will really like it. Max is such a visual learner, and loves TV, so I think he will enjoy it. I can't believe your stories of Anna, getting so big... she is always in my mind saying hi to everyone passing by!!
