A Day of Activity

On a cold day in February, the kids had a busy Saturday...

They played in a local church's basketball league, so they each had a game earlier in the day.

The games were fairly close in starting times, so Ross and I split up, and switched places. I was trying to do pictures of both of them, but had better luck with Max.

Now that is a face of concentration...

Max's game was in a better lit gym and not as crowded, so I could move around a little...

practicing some dribbling before the game...

Zoey's gym was dark and very crowded and parents are only on one side of the court...

Max is a first grader in a first and second grade boys league. And Zoey is a fourth grader in a 4-6 grade girls league. She is 9 playing with some 12 year olds! But she did great and held her own. And Max just has fun...

Here he is trying to box someone out! He actually had more fun racing back down court at the end of a play!

This is one of Zoey's shots.

And after running back and forth between games, we ran to get food, and to change clothes, because we had to go to Tae Kwon Do testing!!

here they are doing the warm up -

But as you will see, my camera was a little distracting to them (they kept looking right at me, which they never do any other time) so I put it away for a while...

I brought it out again when they were doing their punches...

See Max's face in this one? He is doing a ki-hap, yelling "hut". Putting emotion and energy into his punch... more on that in a minute...

So, this was a small testing group, and he had an older kid (I think middle school) testing with the younger kids. This kid didn't want to ki-hap at all. (he was embarassed) Master Tran kept telling him to have energy and all that stuff, but he just couldn't do it. So from the back of the room, as the kid does his punches, you hear "hut"!

Max decided to help him out a little bit! The teacher thought it was funny, but couldn't really laugh, so he just told Max thank you.

The kids did great. They had to do forms this time and they each broke their boards in one try!

Fun Day!
